My Toys

Welcome!

pembleton.jpg

I built the pembleton grasshopper in 2003 just before MSVA came in .I had to A frame it to england to register it anyway.
It now has a new 2cv motor with 2 dellorto carburettors and total electronic ignition so now it runs very well indeed.I have been driving it to run it in most of winter 2006-cold but fun.

The maroon car is a Lambda,as it was designed in the 11 year of lomax being the 11 letter of the greek alphabet. It has a lowered galvanised lomax chassis and coil over shocks instead of the citroen spring canisters underneath-so it is much lower and handles firmer and much better.Green leather seats suit the maroon body colour.

-this is about my cars-mostly three wheeled ones that i have built,,,but there's a 4 wheel one being rebuilt at the moment-more fotos soonest.
And now the latest yellow JZR with all moto guzzi spada 1000cc drive with sequential 5 speed box=no reverse so careful when parking and rear guzzi forks, all 3 wheels have discs to help stop it.

It helps that it is left hand drive and is still waiting to be sva'd and registered, having only just been built , then to collect it and drive it back.

It is said that the Spada guzzi engine is the better looking with round barrel fins, maybe not as powerful as the Le Mans engine but still fast enough for an oldy...

And this one is rear wheel drive with a shaft down the centre of the car driving the rear bike spoked wheel, rebuilt with a 15" rim to take car tyres
new driving technique to learn as the others are citroen front wheel drive !!

Here's part way through building the hopper, its on stands, front and rear suspension in, floor and some wires.Panels are fitted last as its easier and less crawling under the steering wheel. All aluminium panels are hand riveted-about 1.000. The bonnet has since been re-cut to a more traditional shape and riveted to the copper cowl to help it sit better .It does look better now, its just daring to do it,a wrong snip and oh bum.
There is a hopper with a guzzi motor like the yellow one and it looks just wonderful-but drives the front wheels.

blueandsilverlomax.jpg

The blue one has a 4 cylinder GS engine 1300cc   [the GS was a heavy car] and is frightning to about 80mph,very unbalanced with the 4 cast iron barrels  too far forward which leads to very odd handling when least expecting..like on a straight bit of road-it suddenly kicks a bit over to one side at the slightest molehill/pimple....very easy and exciting to get it onto 2 wheels on corners-but safe as with no driveto the errant wheel , it drops down again.I popped it last year and although i have a spare GS engine,a 602 2cv engine will be fitted. It came with a hardtop rather like the gun turret of a wellington bomber-and as claustrophobic with regard to the handling-spiraling from the sky was a real possibility.
The silver one had 4 seats-2 dickeys in the back either side of the rear wheel-have chainsaw will work=sorted-honest...I drove it everywhere and it went really well, then i looked at the chassis -wot no chassis-its now on a new galvanised chassis with a planned opening bootlid .[I pinched the engine and gearbox to build the hopper at the top ] It sits there ready for  finishing..

This is the Brooklands demonstrator with 1000cc BMW twin bike engine pumping 100bhp-that gives, at only 350kg weight ,about 350 bhp per ton-awesome.
the one i'm building has a mere 650 cc twin but will still go well-and if it works will put another 650 into the 3 wheeler-which will be fun.
Mine is LHD but is fitting together well.still in chassis state 'cause its easier to build with no side panels-less back pain.
Now its down on its wheels-5.5j minilite alloys with 145 tyres and am waiting for a non rainy day to push it outside to photograph.
